RE-Generation Music Fest

The RE-Generation Music Fest is the new name for what we previously called "Band Jam". We wanted to reflect something more than just a time of music and fun. The name shows the opportunity to use music and fun to be a way to offer youth regeneration through Christ and the way in which we can regenerate a generation through the Gospel of Christ. This music experience will have a hip-hop and R & B theme with the hope of drawing youth from our local community. The event is Friday, May 7 from 8:00 pm to midnight, and it will pump the jams of some local hip-hop/rap and R & B artists and then share the message of Christ. We pray that God will make use of our efforts, and -- through the music and message -- to RE-make this GENERATION. Would you like to be a part of this ministry opportunity through serving in one of the many areas of such as concessions, artist relations, security, and altar counselors? If so, email Pastor Terry for details.

Discount Card Fundraiser

Fusion Youth is having a discount card fundraiser. We will be selling these discount cards for $20, and they contain 20 discount offers from local restaurants and businesses that can be used over and over again. These cards will be good for a whole year, so you would have the opportunity to use these discounts for a whole year. This fundraiser will go a long way to help the youth pay for many of the events we participate in such as retreats, lock-ins, our Guatemalan, Middle School and Christmas mission trips, Chrysalis and other activities. It will also go toward helping out the youth budget in this budget shortage year. How do you know whether you are helping a particular youth or helping the youth budget? It's simple. You buy a card from a youth or parent of a youth, and that will go toward the youth. You can also buy a card from Paster Terry, the church office, or upstairs before or after the 11:00 am Fusion Worship service. We hope you will support the endeavors of the youth ministry here at First Church!

Middle School Mission Trip, 6/27/10 - 7/1/10

This summer, the middle school youth will be going to Enterprise, Florida to work at the United Methodist Children's Home. The trip is from June 27 through July 1, and the cost will be between $150-$200. The youth will be helping to repair the facilities at the campus. This is a wonderful opportunity for middle school youth to be involved in service to others.

Senior High Guatemala Mission Trip, 7/24/10 - 8/1/10

Fusion Youth Ministries is planning a wonderful and exciting mission trip to Guatemala this summer. This trip is open only to rising 9th through rising 12th graders and adult chaperones who have completed the child-protection training. If you are interested in chaperoning for this trip and have not completed the child-protection training, please contact Pastor Terry. The youth will leave on Saturday, July 24, and return on Saturday, August 1. We have estimated the approximate total cost of the trip to be $700 per person (that includes airfare), which will include all travel, sleeping accommodations and food. This amount may vary slightly based upon the number of youth who are able to go. The adults who chaperone the trip will have a reduced cost for the trip.

We will be staying at New Hope church and school. There are accommodations in a dormitory there equipped with indoor bathrooms. There are additional accommodations at the same location in another building where the youth or adult chaperones may sleep on air mattresses or in sleeping bags. The mission trip will involve construction and renovation work as well as opportunities to work with the children who attend New Hope school and church. Please visit New Hope's site for additional details. We have been advised that it is not necessary for U.S. citizens to have a visa to visit Guatemala; however, citizens of other countries may need a visa. Citizens of other countries may investigate these visa requirements.

Everyone going on the trip must have their own passport. If your youth is planning on going on the trip and doesn't have a passport, we recommend that you assist him or her in applying for one as soon as possible. It may take up to six weeks for the passport to arrive after the application is filed. The fee for an adult passport application (age 16 or over) is $100. The fee for a minor passport application (under age 16) is $85. There will be a nominal fee for passport photos as well. The closest site to the church to apply for a passport is at City Hall in the Mall in Coral Springs, and it is equipped with a photo center on-site. Please visit the Passport Site for complete details on how to apply for a passport and how to obtain the form to apply.

It is imperative that we have a total head count of youth and adult chaperones who are committed to going on the trip. We have some openings left until April 7, which is the deadline for when we need the first non-refundable deposit of $250. In order to secure our flights and to lock in an airline rate, we are requiring a non-refundable deposit of $250 per person by Wednesday, April 7. This $250 deposit is required for all youth and all adult chaperones planning on going on the trip. The remaining fees for the trip will be paid in two additional non-refundable installments. The first installment of $250 will be due on Sunday, May 2 and the final installment of $200 will be due on Sunday, June 13 -- no late enrollments, deposits or fees will be accepted. We hope you can join us for this awesome opportunity to share Christ in Guatemala. For more info, questions, and/or comments please contact Pastor Terry.

Adopted Compassion Child

The youth have adopted a young boy from Compassion International. Each week, money is collected for this little boy. If you would like to contribute, please mark an envelope with "Compassion Child" and put it in the offering basket during the Sunday youth worship service.
